I create contemporary figurative and semi-abstract landscapes inspired by the inland scenery of West Cornwall. I paint in acrylic on board or canvas working from my home studio in Breage.
I have exhibited in Porthleven’s Netloft and in 2024 I became an associate member of Cowhouse Gallery, Perranuthnoe.

Martin Holmes - Cornish Landscape Painter
Martin Holmes is a painter who creates figurative and semi-abstract landscapes exploring the visual language of his local environment. He is primarily inspired by the inland scenery of Cornwall.
Working from his home studio in Breage, he captures the changing nature of his surroundings through an expressive use of colour, texture, and contrast. He works mainly in acrylic on board or canvas and has a strong aversion to including man-made subjects in his work. He is also developing a penchant for painting pink cows.
In 2025 he was awarded first place in the Porthleven Harbour Arts Prize.
